Did you know, that right now in Lower Merion Township an ElderNet volunteer is driving a participant to a doctor’s appointment?  Volunteers in the food pantry are packing bags for people with food insecurities. Our care coordinators are on the phone and in homes meeting with participants to provide resources and direction about public benefits.  This is not just something we do on National Non-Profit Day – this is what ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth does every single day all year round.

As a local non-profit since 1976 we are proud of our mission and vision to provide a safety net for older and disabled adults to help them remain in their homes with dignity and strengthen food and financial security for all community members in need of support. Since our founding, ElderNet has been a pillar in the Main Line community and has provided thousands of people with free resources, and a meaningful place to volunteer. With outstretched arms ElderNet connects the community it so deeply cares for. Creating an environment for participants to feel respected and less isolated.

Last year, we were able to provide 76 participants with thousands of rides to and from doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping runs, pharmacy trips and other errands. We served 257 families and individuals facing food insecurity providing tens of thousands of pounds of food to those who needed it.  In addition, through monetary donations from individual community members and local grants we provided over $22,000 in emergency financial assistance to local residents struggling with an unexpected expense.

It might be National Non-Profit Day, but we want to thank all of our volunteers and donors for helping us serve our community, everyday. Without you ElderNet would not exist! You impact the lives of those we serve every day for the better. Thank you and Happy Non-Profit Day from your friends at ElderNet.
