Falls Prevention Awareness Week is happening right now from September 20-24th 2021. We want to make everyone aware of the dangers of our older loved ones falling. For adults 65 and older there is a significant increase in the chance that they can fall and seriously injure themselves.
According to the CDC, “Every second of every day, an older adult (age 65+) suffers a fall in the U.S.-making falls the leading cause of injury and injury death in this age group.”
Making sure our loved ones’ homes are safe is very important-no trip hazards on the floors, and handrails can make a huge difference. Various medical alarm devices can allow someone to easily alert medics when they have fallen. Whether you are a senior or their loved one, start having these conversations to make sure these situations don’t happen at home.
At ElderNet, we provide volunteer services to help our older community members remain in their homes. Our volunteers are here and ready to help! You can visit our website to see the other services we provide, email [email protected] with any questions, or DM us on Instagram @eldernet_lmn.
